How to Vote

Florida law requires that you vote in the precinct where you live. Your voter information card shows the precinct, polling place and voting districts for your address. If you move your legal residence within the county, you must vote in your new precinct. Do not return to your old precinct. You can go click on Precinct-Finder on this website and find your correct precinct by entering your home address.

If you have registered to vote but do not have your voter information card, you can call the Supervisor of Elections office at (850) 229-6117 and they can tell you what precinct you live in and where your polling place is located. Please bring picture and signature identification with you to the polls. The law requires the poll worker to verify your signature before permitting you to vote. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET on election day.

When voting, every voter must present a Florida Driver's License, Florida Identification Card or another form of picture & signature identification approved by the Florida Department of State. If you do not present picture identification, you will be allowed to vote a provisional ballot; this will delay your voting and those following you. If the elector who fails to furnish the required identification is a first-time voter who registered by mail and has not provided the required identification to the supervisor of elections prior to election day, the elector shall be allowed to vote a provisional ballot. The canvassing board shall determine the validity of all provisional ballots pursuant to Florida Statutes. If you prefer not to go to the polls on election day, you may vote by absentee ballot. For more information on this process, please go to Absentee Voting. You may also vote early in the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 401 Long Avenue and the Wewahitchka Branch Library, 314 N 2nd Street in Wewahitchka during the 8-day early voting period. The same picture and signature identification is required to vote early.

What to Bring

In order to vote at any early voting site or precinct, you must produce one of the following current and valid picture identifications:

  • Florida Driver's License

  • Florida ID card issued by the Dept. of Highway safety & Motor Vehicles

  • United States Passport

  • Debit or Credit Card

  • Military Identification

  • Student Identification

  • Retirement Center Identification

  • Neighborhood Association Identification

  • Public Assistance Identification

If the picture identification does not contain a signature, an additional identification with a signature will be required.  It is not mandatory that you bring your Voter's Information Card with you to vote.  This card is intended only to inform you that you are a registered voter, what district races you are able to vote on, what precinct you are registered in and the location of your polling place.  It is no good for identification at the polling place.
